What is a Tailgate party?


As football fans arrive to the games, tailgate parties are an honored tradition. Typically ther eis music, drinks and food being enjpyed in the parking lot getting into the spirit of the games hours befrore the games even begin.

Here are some recipes to make your next tailgate party delicious, healthy and cost effective.

 

Oh so delicious…chili 

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 onions, diced

1 lb ground beef

4 garlic cloves, minced

24-ounce can crushed tomatoes 

8-ounce can tomato sauce

2 ounces diced green chili

1/2 cup beef stock2 cans beans, drained and rinsed

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon cumin

1/2 tablespoon of paprika 

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 

Dash of cayenne pepper

Salt and pepper to taste

1. In a large pot sauté onions in oil until softened.

2. Add chopped meat amd mix until cooked through and no longer pink.

3. Add all the other ingredients .

4. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes.

Black Bean Dip

2 cans black bean, drained and rinsed1/4 cup sour cream (or plant based sour cream)

juice from 1 1/2 limes

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 tablesppon of white vinegar

 

1. Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until well combined.

2. Serve with your favorite chips.

 

Coleslaw you can’t stop eating

1 head of green cabbage

2 carrots

1 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup vinegar

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

 

1. Shred cabbage and carrots in your food processor.

2. Mix all other ingredients together in a large bowl.

3. Mix shredded cabbage into the bowl with the dressing, toss to combine.

 

Alternatively, you can use 2 bags of pre shredded cabbage

 

Surprisingly delicious air fried chicken

1 package of chicken on the bone, cut into pieces

 2 cups almond milk mixed with juice if 1/2 lemon or (2 cups buttermilk) 

1 cup flour ( use tapioca starch for gluten-free version)

2 cups matzoh meal ( use gluten-free matzoh meal for gluten-free version)

1 tablespoon dried parsley

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon pepper

1/2 tsp salt

 

1.  Place almond milk in a bowl with  juice from 1/2 a lemon, mix to combine.

2. Place flour or tapioca in another bowl.

3. Place matzho meal with all the seasonings in a third bowl, mix to combine.

4. Preheat air fryer to 360 degrees.

5. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment.

6. Dip each piece of chicken in the flour, then the liquid and lastly in the seasoned mixture.

7. Make sure that each piece of chicken is coated on both sides, place on prepared sheet and contnue with the rest of the chicken.

8. Spray the top of the chicken with olive oil spray.

9. Place in air-fryer for 25 minutes.
